Jobs axed as Cleethorpes' Pleasure Island shuts

QUOTE
Cleethorpes' Pleasure Island Family Theme Park has closed, leaving about 200 people out of work. Staff who arrived at the park on Wednesday morning were given letters terminating their employment and visitors were turned away at the gate. It is not known why the park has shut. Efforts by BBC News to contact the park's owner have been unsuccessful.

Bit of a shock this, coming just before the main season gets going.

That really doesn't surprise me - after seeing visitor numbers over the last few years, and then it was taken off the Flamingoland season ticket this year - its been coming for a long time unfortunatly.

It seems to be ownership/legal issues rather than the pot simply running dry. They have 'New for 2010' attractions.

I reckon it'll be reopen within a month. They really need to update their website though!

Yeah - one member of staff has confirmed that. Its a bit of a relief, but I won't be happy until I see it open again.
