It had a hernia and had to be removed.......

Either that or AT couldn't be bothered to run it and its escualting maintenance costs. One or the other, it escapes me which.

The official line is that Dynamo was removed to allow the balloon ride to go in its' place, but the balloon idea never took off (excuse the poor punnage!).

This year, of course, the Ug Land climbing tower will go on the old Dynamo site.

RIP...

You had better sit down Dan.....Dynamo was being checked over by Technical Services this afternoon, not sure why?, it could be to see what condition it is in for a posible sale or maybe a move to another Tussauds Park, I'll try to find out more info.

Cheers for that Paul, fingers crossed that the ride is at least operational somewhere in this country...

An ode to Dynamo

There once was a ride called Dynamo.
Management said, "Sorry, she'll have to go".
So they tore her up, and left her to rust
while enthusiasts pleaded, "Put her back, you must!"

As Dan said his last good bye,
he didn't half start to cry.
"Don't worry", I said, "they'll replace her soon".
Little did I know they wanted a hot air balloon!

The locals objected. "Too noisy", they said,
so Towers said let's install a golf game instead.
But too many people won, they lost a lot of money,
Ralph said "Remove it at once ". He wasn't a happy bunny!

And now, tech services check Dynamo out,
while enthusiasts wonder, "What's that about?".
Hey, it might just return in 2006,
After they've finished her long awaited fix.

So we'll all head to Towers to give it a try,
but quit dreaming; pigs will sooner fly!

Ive heard the latest rumours around chessington are that Dynamo will totally replace the Rodeo currently at chessington or aid in the usage of spare parts. Dont think we'l see Dynamo reappearing at Alton.

Hi all

I'm far more a fair enthusiast than a theme park enthusiast, and I was at Tilburg fair in the Netherlands last Saturday, where I discovered that of the two Break Dance 3s there, one of them was the Hoefnagels machine - meaning it was Dynamo in its new life.

Here are 3 videos, 1 daytime, 2 night. The ride looked and rode far better than it ever did at Alton, and take particular notice how, like almost all Dutch Break Dances, riders are allowed to stand up in the cars, which really adds to the experience.

Can't see anybody standing up in the cars - and to be honest I cannot see that as being very safe (I know I wouldn't want to do it!)

Alton letting Dynamo go and not replacing the motors or whatever needed doing to it was a crime sad.gif
