Right, I've given you all 10 days extra peace and quiet this year, to rest from the exersions of the World Cup. But now recruitment for ATA's Fantasy Football 2006/07 begins in earnest and you all have three and a bit weeks to get your teams together. In the case of RPG this might mean hitting "auto complete" and then removing any good/first-team players that were selected randomly by the computer. tongue.gif Or, in the case of veterans like Big L, you could break out the graphs and the abacus. Whatever your method or your madness you can lay it before us on this alter I like to call, "THE FANTASY FOOTBALL THREAD 2006/07"

A grandiose little moniker isn't it? smile.gif

This free (i.e. No reason for you all not enter!) game can be found at the official Premier League website or by clicking here so dash on over there and get a team registered ASAP so that you start scoring points right from the off.

It's the same game we've been playing for the last 3 seasons and it's very simple to play but also amongst the best versions out there tactically too. They've introduced a new rule this year whereby you can use a transfer "Wild Card" and in doing so you can make as many transfers that week without losing any points. Should be interesting when people start panicking early doors! biggrin.gif

To sign up to our league click on "Leagues" (who knew?!) and then copy/paste this code into the "Join A Private League" box: 134755-28352

The result last season was pretty comprehensive, but as long as people maintain their teams, things tend to stay interesting right up to the final weeks. It certainly brings more excitement to nothing games like Watford v Sheff Utd! tongue.gif

Last Season Top 5

1 - Cryptkickers, Luke Critchley,1846

2 - Team Xtreme, Stuart Dempsey, 1803

3 - Kop A Load Of These!, Ian Ritson, 1776

4 - Chris XI, Chris Holmes, 1758

5 - Plucky Underdog XI, Michael Fanning, 1751

So, in closing, good luck selecting your teams, everyone's very welcome (male, female, gay, bi-sexual, young, old, etc.) and you can sign up for this marvelous competition here. smile.gif

Glad there's some interest being shown already. smile.gif

We currently have 8 teams signed up after one day's enrolment, and last season we ended up with 23 teams, so two more days of the same level of uptake and we're there. smile.gif smile.gif

For a laugh could we all re register and enter a Random team each, Mind you we would all have to be honest and not change the team.

May put a different spin on things but may spoil it also, suppose we could do an ATA random league but then we would all have to re-register, is this something worth pursuing?

Just one competative team per entry please.

Anyone who wants to do a random entry can set up their own league for such experiments. Ta. smile.gif

I always find it hard to get a fairly decent team with a budget on Fantasy Football Games. laugh.gif

Entered.

Picked names mostly at random, because I'm in a rush.

Well, it's free, after all.

11 teams have joined our league so far but yours isn't one of them. We can't see your team before the season begins if you're worried about sporting espionage, Gemma. wink.gif

Not at all, Ian. sleep.gif

I merely forgot to click the "join league" bit, as I realised earlier today. I was a bit frantic when checking internetty stuff yesterday, and therefore the completely uncharacteristic bout of forgetfulness is easily explained.

I'm not dim-witted or dizzy. Such rumours are completely unfounded.

Unfounded indeed, Gemma. ohmy.gif Anyone spreading such rumours is a fool and a braggart and a whey-faced poltroon! angry.gif

And Gawd bless'ya for being the only manager so far to place a full-stop after their team's name. wub.gif

So, 14 teams entered so far ladies and gentleman, and the sauna we like to call ATAFFL'06/07v1.0 (I'm still working on that acronym) is barely full enough for a saucy brushing of flesh en-route to the coals! We need more bodies people, and we need 'em soon!! blush.gif

Punctuation is important, as I'm sure you appreciate. One doesn't quite know where one is without it. Personally speaking, I'd hate to be on the receiving end of a rogue clause or a fragmented phrase... Vicious buggers, I tell you!

As for acronyms, you could call it Ian Ritson's Alton Towers Almanac Fantasy Football League Emulous Competition for Optimum Position Taking Everyone's Respect.

Or the shortened, easily-remembered version:
IRATAFFLECOPTER (06/07)

It's so snappy, it's got to be a winner. smile.gif

As for the rather raunchy imagery summoned up in the steamy prose above, I feel I must inform the newer members that they needn't be afraid of Mr Shuffler's lecherous groping advances. There is no sauna. There's just an update on how all the teams are doing occasionally. Although you can read the topic whilst wrapped in just a towel, if it makes you feel better. That's the beauty of the internet.

Incidentally, who the gentleman (singular) you were addressing?

Incidentally, who (sic) the gentleman (singular) you were addressing?

Why Big Les of course. A gentleman, a scholar and a somewhat cantankerous protector of the Saxonic tongue.

And for those newer members, rest assured, there shall be no Saxonic tongue in our fantasy sauna. Or your money back. smile.gif
