Just been sent a spam PM from a new member with no posts. I instantly deleted this but just thought I'd make the team and other members aware - don't click links in private messages from new members.

Yeah, nobody click on it - could contain harmful things.

Tip: Whenever someone sends you a link and you don't know who the sender is then always check the link URL before you click on it.

Although that is good advice, only problem is that usually they use short URL's so you can't check 1st - general rule of thumb...never click on a link unless you know the person, simples smile.gif

I clicked it. Porn.

'Please help' tricked me. Although I did think it would be Rick Roll'd.

Ah well. They've gone now. smile.gif

I am willing to turn a blind eye to poor safety regimes as long as they get the theming right. In Six Flags, we get neither.

They didn't send it to everyone...I didn't get one...on this forum anyway. Seen this before, same username, same message. From a bit of research it turns out this user might be a clever bot.

I got both of them. With the first one, I also got it on the Metallica message board, so it might be going through other forums too. Just thought I'd warn

Apologies to you all for the Spam PMs. The problem seems to have affected quite a number of Invision forums, with Invision themselves stating:

QUOTE (Invision @ Apr 8 2009, 10:05 PM)
We believe that humans are being used to bypass the captcha and then the newly created account is given to an automated script which sends PMs in huge quantities to your members.

A patch has been released and we've applied it to the forums, which should mean this kind of attack is a lot harder to perpetrate from now on.
