I'm still sure that the waterfalls used to be more powerful wacko.gif

I distinctly remember going right underneath one in around 2003!

I am willing to turn a blind eye to poor safety regimes as long as they get the theming right. In Six Flags, we get neither.

I think 'more powerful' keeps you in the middle better.

Grand Canyon Rapids

I think your knowing of ride names needs an upgrade tongue.gif

I think the rapids are fine.

Having ridden it just around a week ago... I think it's fine. I'd rather see the log flume getting some work, it's an uncomfortable, jolty ride experience and I'm not even a huge fan of the things you sit in.

The boats are shockingly poor, and are so rarely filled past 6 seats it does make you wonder why they bothered. That said, the rapids are okay. Rough and choppy but that's kind of the point.

Am I the only one that likes The Flume? The only bit which is rubbish is the meandering bit - it needs something to jazz it up somehow. The effects in the dark section need to be reinstated and properly maintained too. The theme is great I reckon, okay so it doesn't fit in with Katanga Canyon or Mutiny Bay, but it doesn't really have to, it being all on its own between the two.

When I went to Alton Towers in August 2008, the rapids were a bit slow and when I went in april 2009 they were closed. It had no water in it!!

i think that a general maintenance thing, and the water is always drained at the end of the day?

Katanga Canyon needs a bit of TLC now. it has the Rapids and the Mine Train, im not sure if theres really anymore space to put another ride in there, but a small flat would be a cool little addition. The theme is great already, they just need to improve it somewhat.

The rpaids are drained every night and stored in some huge tanks under the ground then repumped back in after the first lot of maintance guys have inspected the waterbed to make sure the logs that cause the diffrent effects in the water around the course are tightly secured. ph34r.gif

Erm not true. You know the lake in the middle of the rapids? Have a look how full it is when the rapids are empty, then how empty it is when the rapids are full. The water from the rapids comes from the lake, there is a sluice gate at the end near the end of the rapids which lets the water in and out, then the huge pumps near the station pump the water up to the top where it begins its decent back to the bottom.

No guys. The rapids are on a downhill so by the end of the day when the pumps are switched off, it all gathers at the bottom end.

Everyone knows the water from the rapids is stored on the moon and send down a huge flume at 06:29 each morning.

I know this, because I have been passed off on it by NASA and Intamin Space Flumes who make the water transport system.

No need to ask any further. smile.gif

I thought the moon was made of cheese? I saw it on TV, Wallace and Gromit said so!

I know they are drained every day, but this was for the whole day. No Rapids for a whole day crying.gif !
Plus the whole parks power went out! Anyone there that day?

I buy that the water comes from the lake, thats why its that colour.

I love the ride as it is but upgrades/rethemes are always welcome. Just what would you do though? Put alligators in there?
