I'm pretty sure Project Needlemouse is due in 2010 also.

This looks fairly "official" ...... I'm struggling to link the logo in. Confirms name as Sonic Spinball.

Apparently, its a 3 year deal and there will be a Sonic themed room in the hotels (hoped so smile.gif)

Looks like we have the official new logo (via MCV):

Along with some info:

QUOTE (MCV @ Jan 22 2010, 1:11 PM)
Sonic hits Alton Towers

Sega becomes official partner of UK theme park; Sonic rollercoaster revealed

A Sonic-branded rollercoaster will launch at Alton Towers next month.

The rollercoaster is part of a three-year deal between Alton Towers and Sega, which will see the publisher hold exclusive video game rights at the resort. The Alton Towers Hotel will also feature a Sonic The Hedgehog themed room, which guests can stay in and play the latest Sonic games.

The rollercoaster is an updated version of Alton Towers' Spinball Whizzer, and will be called the Sonic Spinball as of Saturday, February 13th.

"We are delighted to be working with Merlin Entertainments and Alton Towers Resort" said Sega UK marketing director Amanda Farr.

"Partnering Sonic with one of the UK's most popular destinations for a family day out is a fantastic opportunity for people to engage, and have fun, with the Sonic brand. I'll certainly be there at the launch of the rollercoaster to have my turn!"

Alton Towers' sales and marketing director Morwenna Angove added: "It's a great joint venture between the Alton Towers Resort and Sega. The affiliation of both brands will add to the great family offering at the Resort for kids seeking fabulous family fun and adrenalin addicted adults."

Sorry Dan!

Just a note, the front page on the official site now has Sonic on it, but I couldn't see any other pages updated (although I was checking on the iPhone rather than my full computer, not checked properly)

3 year deal - so all Sonic theming will be crap and/or removable. Is this a good indication that Spinball will be removed 2012/13?

Is it me or has Sonic become anorexic since the 2D games days? The days when Sonic was good.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed, weak and weary,
Over many a strange and spurios pronsite of 'hot XXX galore',
While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning,
And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour.
"Tis not possible!", I muttered, "give me back my free hardcore!"

I am willing to turn a blind eye to poor safety regimes as long as they get the theming right. In Six Flags, we get neither.

I got the old classics on PC for a fiver last year, it's still as good as I remembered. I'm sure nostalgia has a big part to play in it, though.

Some of the modern titles are objectively poor.

Not objectively poor, they ARE poor compared to the original megadrive 2D classics. However, for those who still haven't realised it even though many people across the forums have been pointing it out; this year will see a true Sonic relaunch with a new 2D game (project needlemouse).

Bringing Sonic back to his roots will be big news in the gaming world and should bring a new generation of gamers into the world of Sonic.
Before the Needlemouse thing, I'd have never thought that a Sonic theme in 2010 would be a goer, but seeing as it's obvious that the new 2D game is going to be promoted heavily across the globe, it now makes perfect sense.

But sadly, some people here simply live and breathe negativity even before seeing how something pans out and seem to be endlessly bitter and twisted about AT.

' Sonic in the noughties = fail.' - Good job we're not in the noughties anymore then, isn't it?

Calm down! I think Needlemouse and this karting game look alright - hence my comment about the Noughties.

I don't think the problem was that they weren't as good (which is of course true). I think the problem was that Sega's output was rubbish, as evidenced by lousy reviews and disappointing sales.

How am I bitter or twisted about Alton Towers? I wholeheartedly love the park, hence my appearance on a forum focusing on it...

It's a clear fact that every Sonic game produced in the last 10 years has been awful, I think I've owned them all and they are terrible games, I always give them a chance, and they always return to the trade in counter within a week.

Looks much better with the blue background and without the 'AT THE ALTON TOWERS RESORT' wrapper.
