I couldn't see this covered in detail anywhere, so I thought I'd ask, how do you think she'll change? I've heard that she'll be painted completely green, which I actually think could look cool, especially if they change the ride vehicle cosmetics.

Name though?! I think "yeah, bye Rita"... I've read within the SW6 threads that some people think it should stay, but in terms of "Dark Forest" and the launched element, I think something like Dark Spirit would be cool, or Poltergiest perhaps?! There are so many ways this coaster could look cool at night too (although I appreciate 99% of the time she's operating in daylight!!!!).

Also, how do you think the launch would change?! I think the launch lights should go.

I'm 100% sure that she'll be completely rethemed for 2010, but what do you think!?

Being launched as a curse is spoken out over the speakers... with smoke and a flash of light...

That'll do me!

But i'll miss the classic GET YOUR HEADS BACK!

hate to break it to people (again) but boosterbike broomsticks WAS a fake plan. The G-Forces if made in No Limits would make people pass out on the first corner so... na..

How does that work then? How would the trains make that much difference as to make people pass out? unsure.gif

The Broomsticks Boosterbike was considered though, then management decided against it due to throughput concerns, which it would have suffered from at Alton. It doesn't seem to be a huge problem at Flamingo Land but I guess that's down to relative volumes of visitors.

a name change and a paint, maybe a ripsaw looking 2D backdrop along the station... I can't see them putting effort into this.

The thought I was having is that the area is split into 2 parts. We have a very thin race rock thingy area with Rita, and those shops and arcade. Then the new ride in an area all on its own with access via the other side of the Skyride station, all secluded on its lonesome.

A bit like this (mind the crude drawing, I only have paint at work tongue.gif )
The black lines are access paths and red circle is the new area fitting snugly around the ride.

Good idea and I'll try and excuse that crude drawing! tongue.gif. To be honest, I think Rita is still too new and SW6 will be part of the Towers and Ug Land will still be the same with Rita keeping her theme. what about everybody else?

I totally understand the reasons why people may think they won't - because Merlin seem to be unwilling to spend unless it's 100% necessary.

However, if you were a manager of Alton Towers - and there was a 12m new ride being put in, you really wouldn't want theming clashes. It would be a laughing stock.

I am sure it will all be re-themed and, if it's not, then more fool them for being cheap!

In all honesty I doubt it will change at all. I'm sure Alton Towers don't see theming as their priority, it's money at the end of the day. Most customers will take limited interest in the theming.

They do see theming as a priority though. It's a "theme" park. Saw has been themed, Mutiny Bay, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Sharkbait Reef, CWOA 2010 is to be themed - Merlin are looking at creating fairly immersive attractions and rightly so. AT is not a funfair.

tbf, now looking at meames's amazing paint skills there, id say that's probably highly likely...

I don't think there would be, there is a massive entrance to the area the other side of the sky ride station, between that and Burger King, and a path which runs underneath the Skyride cables could easily be made wide enough to accomodate the crowds without getting in the way of the cable cars or Rita.

I would have thought that if that does happen there would be the ride and a shop down there, so it would work a bit like Saw with access over that bridge, the bridge doesn't get jammed (as far as I have seen) as there is no reason to hang around there unless you are riding.

I'd honesty expect it to happen. Okay, at the moment, all I'm expecting is a name change with new audio and some plants and maybe a couple of statues. Compared to what they've done over the pass couple of years, it will be plain, simple an easy. I'd like to see it repainted in green, but I can't see it happening...
