I have been thinking about starting one of these for sometime. Many companies now have referral schemes where you can refer a friend and get either free cash or a free month etc. I believe that on ATA we are a bit of a community and so it only seems right that we should all benefit from each others friendship. Hopefully you can pass some profit or savings back to the service that gave you this opportunity, ATA.

However, the thing that has stopped me starting this thread is it could get out of hand, arguments could ensue about who should get the referral reward etc. So I have created a few rules to it, of course I have no way of enforcing them, in the hope that we can keep some sort of order.
  1. Work from the bottom up.
When looking for a referral start at the bottom of the list and work your way up. This rule is designed so that the first person who posts a particular company does not get all the referrals.

  2. Only use referrals from people who have been members for 3 months or longer
This is to stop some half brains spamming the thread thinking they are going to get some easy advertising. I did think about making it longer but I think we can be "click" enough as it is.

  3. You can only post one referral per calender month
This rule is designed to help give everyone a chance. It would not be very much fun if every other day someone posted a list of 20 companies to make themselves bottom of the stack and first in line for everyone. So one company each month, try not to cheat.

  4. You can not post the same company twice in a row
Designed to give everyone a chance even if they only know of one or two companies that will give them a reward.

  5. Try to be unique
Yes a certain poker site might be the best payout for referrals, but by adding a site no one has registered for yet you stand more chance of getting more referrals. This works for everything from ISP to Energy.

  6. No Arguments
Referrals are not the be all and end all of life. If some idiot decides to post the same company as you the day after you posted it then just accept it. Making a song and dance about it will only make matters worse. Take it on the chin. Personally, if I noticed that this had happened I would probably use the referrer above the bottom one anyway even if the rules say I am supposed to choose the bottom one.
Well that's all I think we need to have a fair and friendly way of swapping referral codes. Obviously some times it will be a code, others people will need to contact you via PM or Email.

And remember, if you do make anything out of this thread, it is hosted by ATA and if you have made or saved some money from using it then it is only right that you donate a bit to ATA. Email Crispy to find out how you can pass some of it to support it.

What goes around comes around.

Sainsburys DVD Rental

If you use me as a referral then you will receive an additional two week free trial (taking it to a month free on your selected package). If you then become a full paying member I will receive a month free too!

For this referral to work you need to PM me with your email address so I can send you the referral email.

The package prices are good and the service has been excellent so far smile.gif

Need a new ISP or sick of dial up? Then join Sheffield's own PlusNET by clicking the banner below....

I have just moved to them after Pipex became far to slow to put up with and their customer service being shocking.

Plus.net have great customer service even better membership portal and account controls and silly fast 8mb internet for £14.99 per month, bargain! Plus (no pun, honestly) if you aren't happy with them you have 90 days from signup to leave without paying a penny.

What do I get out of this? I'm glad you asked... I get 50p per month discount on my subscription for each person I reffer.

LoveFilm referral

People signing up through this link get a month long free trial (unlike the 2 weeks offered usually) and I get £20 credit if I get just one person who keeps with LoveFilm after the first month. I'm only on the £3.99 package and I'm liking it at the mo, with every film I'd like to watch on there.

If anybody is thinking of taking up a Current Account with Alliance & Leicester (the likes of which are normally top-of-the-tables on Money Saving Expert), you can get between £20 and £40 cash if I refer you, and so will I.

Cheers Sim, I hope you do! For the record, my first DVD came rather quickly and the envelope system is really efficient.

I have to say that their DVD selections system is poor though, I have now for the second time in a week got the wrong DVD, one that was selected at random out of my list, not the one I selected to come next :S

From what I remember when I used some of them a while ago that's how they're supposed to work, your list is an order of preference but if discs aren't available (already rented out) then they'll send you something else (as near to the top as possible) to make sure you've always got something to watch.

Like Crispy said, I think its only an issue if the films you have on your list are recent releases. Most of the films on my list are a bit older/a bit more specialist and I don't mind too much what order I view them.

You remember correctly, You have to tell the system what priority the disc/title is and you don't get stuff in the order and you can't specify an order hence why you have to feed twenty titles to get it going.

Not a refferal here but I still have 2x £50 vouchers for the tesco version of lovefilm, Just enter code XMLFTES7 on sign up at http://www.tesco.com/dvdrental
