Buy a domain name?

The problem with most free hosting sites is people forget those long URL's which is a shame in most cases.

Godaddy.com is your friend. smile.gif

Yellow text vs sky blue background, I still have spots infront of my eyes from reading the homepage. unsure.gif

Also WordArt is not your friend, quite alot of those titles would look better in just a large bold font IMO.

I personally think the site's pretty cluttered, if I came accross your homepage from a search or whatever I'd take one look at the homepage and leave immediately! Lots of your images have been streched out of aspect ratio and some have been blown up far too much, like the YourDay thing on the homepage. As said before; ditch the word arts ASAP. Generally with web design, the simpler the better. Ditch the huge titles and the big pictures advertising the forum etc., have a clean nav bar under the banner then the news section with uniform formatting, and change the font, please! Go and count the number of professional websites that use Comic Sans as the main font, if you count any more than zero then you also need to look up the word 'professional'! One final thing, proof read! I think every page I looked at had at least one spelling error or typo.

Sorry to be so negative, you've got the start of what could be a pretty good site there just at the moment it looks a bit slapped together.

My 1000th post and probably least cheerful so far. sad.gif

If you think it's that bad then i'll take it down ands to be honest I wouldn't try again. The site will improve in time- So far it's been rushed and therefore is yet to reach it's full potential.

So far I've advertised the site on TTF, Towers Nerd, Coaster Force and more and have got critisism but nothing that bad. I supose you're just being honest but there is currently a poll on the forum involving the text- with that you'll need to vote for your opinion to count- Really Rollercoaster looks after members first others second wink.gif

I made a roller coaster website using publisher about 5 years ago, it's a good program and pretty easy if you're familiar with office, the adobe programs will take a lot of practice to get the hang of. Publisher all the way!

I'll try to dig up that website, it might still be on one of those free servers I had. It was a good effort I think. The main problem I had was that it was too hard to update. What do you use to upload it out of interest? Do you use publisher itself? I downlaoded some ftp program.

Get yourself a domain, get a .tk one anyway but get the .com for like a tenner a year, I'd say that's money well spent.

Take a look at screamscape, that is a poorly designed website, shouldn't be difficult to beat. All the news is what makes it good.

I use AceFTP 3 Freeware to upload the site.

Cheers for the support- Now you mention it Screamscape is pretty poorly done- too many adverts aswell dry.gif

I'll be getting the .com soon- After the Thorpe Park/ WordArt operations.

RR has a facebook page now by the way if anybody fancy's a visit!

Nothing wrong with Screamscape, yes it's very simple, but it's clear/easy to navigate and the content is fantastic.

Yes- But as Demc said the layout is poor- I was just pointing out that there are plenty of adverts too- Something that doesn't feature on the likes of TowersTimes and here! smile.gif

I dare say Screamscape gets a much higher volume of traffic than ATA or TowersTimes, so they probably need the adverts to fund the site.

I think you should change your ride rating scheme from 10 stars max, to 5 stars.

I don't know- he's on here to- I'll give him a PM.

I was just banning Morgstar (for calling Rollercoasters4life gay) and I was locked out- this had better not mean ANOTHER new forum sad.gif

EDIT: If he has blocked us out- he's blocked my sister too! sad.gif

Another Edit: I remember Rollercoasters4life was online when the forum crashed- using the PM tool unsure.gif

It wasn't Rollercoasters4life and NO members can access the forum. I've contacted Invision Free but unfortunately I don't have my e-mail on this PC as I'm away. Looks like I'll have to wait until at least Saturday to get the forum back online.

Unfortunately- although I am updating it on this PC- the main site won't be updated until Saturday either. Sorry guys. sad.gif

This site is actually quite good, in terms of content and navigation. Layout lets it down a bit but on the forum it says that they are currently working on a new Dreamweaver version of the site so hopefully it'll be very popular in the future!

I have over 75 posts on the forum and some high profile names off here such as AirRules, Hex, Rollercoasters4life and Sanbrooke Productions are all members.

Keep up the hard work and hopefully we'll be seeing even more high profile names on there soon! biggrin.gif
