While going through some stuff in my bedroom, I have come across a guide book from Alton. I'm unsure of what year, but it shows Around the world in 80 days, gravitron, thunder looper and doom and sons. It has a blue cover with a picture of the towers on it on the front, and a tussauds logo on the back in the bottom left hand corner. it only cost 50p smile.gif

Any ideas to the year?

Chris

It has to be either 1990 or 1991 - Tussauds bought Alton Towers in 1990 and both Doom and Sons and Gravitron were removed in 1991.

Upon reading, it looks like it could be 1991?

It has a page on Special Events.

It talks about 1988 and 1989, and then says "Alton Towers started the nineties by opening its gates to readers of fast forward, the radio one roadshow and the best of pop and tv"

That implies that 1990 would have been that, as the start to the nineties. So the guide would be the following year 1991?

Oh, and the farm was sponsered by Britannia Building Society.

Doom & Sons was open in 1992. I don't think the intention was to close it as a matter of neccessity, but obviously with the addition of the Haunted House, Doom & Sons probably seemed a little antiquated and less people used it.

I wonder what happened in 1993 though, was the whole plaza just closed off?

If it were the 1994 guide it would have had Nemesis in it.
