Does anybody remember when a large chunk of Cred Street was fenced out, and the Vintage Cars and Cred Street Carousel left SBNO? Curiously, the fence was completely plain except for a single gargoyle?

We all assumed back then that it was closed off for development, but was this in fact just part of the cost-cutting typical of the period? If something was planned, what was it?

What do all these acronyms mean... eg SBNO? etc.. Or is there a list anywhere that explains them?
Sorry to be off topic.

SBNO means Standing but not operating, ie when a ride is still there but not in use (think Space Invader at Blackpool Pleasure Beach)

Remember it well, wasn't this when all the 'Jazz land' rumours started up too?

Does anyone remember the strange cryptic clue that apeared, somthing along the lines of:

'Corkscrew shall shine in its true colours,
The furture may not be so Black afterall,
A tale with a twst.....'

Oddly, Corkscrew then got re-painted its origional colours and the Black Hole closed...

I suppose that fits then, Corkscrews true colours (Cream and Brown), future not Black (no more Black Hole)

The tale with a twist could either be Rita or the cancelled Cred Street ride??

Jazzland plans were bollocks cooked up by Towers Times btw.

quite right thats why Alton Towers needed a more imaginary theme and style... so they bought up with CCL (Cloud Cuckoo Land).

Wasn't 'A Tale With A Twist' one of Hex's tag lines? Or is that just my memory playing tricks on me?
