Hi everyone,
Has anybody had any experience of using the bus service from Uttoxeter Train Station to Alton Towers, now that it is run by Alton Towers? I have previously used the 32A, does it follow the same route or is it direct now?

Thanks in advance.

Although Alton Towers have stated they are running these services in several press releases to the local papers I've not been able to find any details regarding times, prices or the route.

According to this page on Central Trains' website, the times from Uttoxeter Station are as follows:

QUOTE (Central Trains)
Depart Uttoxeter station
-------Arrive Alton Towers
09.15 9.40
10.15 10.40
11.15 11.40

Depart Alton Towers
-------Arrive Uttoxeter station
16.10 16.35
17.10 17.35
18.00 18.25

The Alton Towers bus picks up at the Alton Towers admission plaza (at the same point as the drop-off) and arrives at Uttoxeter station at the following times (Monday – Saturday only):

UKBus no longer holds a timetable for the 32A, so I assume it's been scrapped.

UK Bus does have a 32A timetable on both the generic and first branded versions of the site - http://www.ukbus.co.uk/cgi/jptt.exe?c=1sot...=y&C=1sot&n=32a

I was under the impression that the bus service you've given times was being operated by (on behalf of) Central Trains and you require one of their inclusive tickets to get onboard. The 32A simply couldn't cope with the volumes of passengers trying to travel using Central Trains offer.

The 32A was indeed the bus used for the Central Trains offer - and you're right, it didn't cope. I've been stranded at Uttoxeter before, and I ended up getting a group and calling for a Minibus. Apparently the 32A leaves Uttoxeter at 9:10, Central Trains' route apparently leaves at 9:15, so I'm guessing they are using Alton Towers' buses.

I got the ATT (Alton Towers Transport) bus from Uttoxeter station last Friday. Left the station at 10:15 (and 9:15, I assume), and was 4 for a single WITHOUT the Central Trains tickets.

The bus went to Uttoxeter Bus Station after leaving the train station. After that, it's direct to Alton Towers (doesn't go through Rocester or anything), and it takes a little shortcut in Denstone to miss that tight corner on the incline that all buses and coaches struggle to get through.

You'll need to get the train from Derby to Uttoxeter (direct), then the ATT bus will take you to the park at 9:15, 10:15 or 11:15. smile.gif

I am confused between the FIRST buses and the ATT ones. The FIRST ones are no way 4 a single, what time do the first buses run? I went onto First tietable and they are more or less the same time as the ATT buses are they not?

I am confused, please assist!

8 return on an ATT bus?! Blardy hell!

It's not 8 return on the ATT bus, it's more like 5, which made me wince when I had to shell out 4 for a single. :crying:

The bus is mainly for the people with the Central Trains package, but they have rates for people who haven't got the package, I suppose as it acts as a relief to the 32A bus.

I'm sure a 32A single was about 3:50? Probably wrong, haven't caught that bus since 2003.

The First buses run at about ten past the hour I think - I was at Uttoxeter train station from 10am waiting for the ATT, and I never saw it - so basically I'm confused about where the 32A is at the moment. laugh.gif

Then the ATT bus runs at 9:15, 10:15 and 11:15.

The 32A adult return fare is 3.50, the ATT adult return fare for the same journey is 5. You have the advantage of going direct, of course.

Great, i'll take the ATT one then. It does take the mickey a bit mind, 9.90 returnm from Brum to Uttox and then 1/2 that again just to go 20 mins up the road, if that! Oh well, it's all worth it in the end!

Uttoxeter is an unstaffed station, so you won't be able to ask anyone. But I'm sure you won't be the only person waiting for the bus. smile.gif The ATT bus is the actual bus for the Central Trains package. I saw people showing their train tickets to the bus driver for inspection, I assume they must have bought the specific Central Trains/AT deal.

All I know is, it's the bus for the CT package, but you can get on even if you didnt buy that, you just have to pay 4 for a single, 5 for a return.

Does anyone know why the CT trains package is limited to such few stations? It seems very bizarre considering their network is much bigger than you would assume with this ticket. For example, you can go from Tamworth but not from Birmingham (even though Birmingham is on the CT network too)... Bizarre!
