Hey,
Right some of you may agree that Alton needs some new flat rides !! I personally would rather have a decent flat ride than a new coaster. I was thinking something along the lines of - This - ? Anyone else think Alton should get some new flat rides !? Post what you think Alton towers should get !! And hopefully they may even read this and take a hint !! Hehe, Thanks for reading. -------------------- |

Personally I think that Alton do not really need to invest in some flat rides. Ok, maybe the odd flat here and there wouldn't go a miss as the flats they have at the moment don't compare to some of the flats at Thorpe for example.
From what I've heard, the flat you have linked to (Bling at BPB) is altogether a bit naff really and needs replacing. I think when deciding a flat ride, you especially need to take into account throughput, whether it is economical to run, as well as easy to maintain, as although flat rides aren't as big as roller-coasters they can attract just a very long queue. If Alton did decide to invest in a flat ride, I would love to see something along the lines of a Giant Frisbee. Although the height of the ride may be an issue. |

Bling's a good ride, I enjoyed it. Naff name, but a good ride. Probably too tall for AT though, unless they did some serious excavation.
It says on that link that Bling is a Zierer ride, considering the remarkable similarity to Samurai I would have sworn it was a Mondial. Every day's a school day. . . |

I know lots of people think to the contrary, but I really don't like flat rides. They seem quite travelling-fair, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't seem to suit Alton. Take Enterprise..while it's not a bad little ride, it's been shunted about the park like mad, and never really seems to be settled...whereas something like Nemesis is big enough to be well-themed and so interact more with the surroundings.
Saying that, I really liked Dynamo, that fitted in really well in FV. It's a shame they got rid of it Katie -------------------- Prepare for AIR

I definitely think a couple of flat rides would not go a miss but I agree with the point made about through-put, it needs to be high in order to be a good ride at Alton I think. As fair as the travelling fair remark is concerned, I can see your point but I reckon that with something like a Huss Booster, etc, AT could theme one really well. It aint high so you dont have to worry about that, and should pull a bigger crowd than most of the other flat rides that they have, what do you lot think?

Would love to say sky-swat because I love slammer but where do I start.
1) Its unreliable 2) Its too high 3) Thorpe have one 4) Throughput is low unless ride ops get their bums into gear! I'd also love to see an air powered swing but then again no due to the above! It's a toughie a real toughie..... -------------------- Thank you for watching SanBrooke productions!

Alton Towers do just need more filler rides, rides you can just go on. Pretty much everything is a bid ride and has queues. For example BPB has things like Noah's ark, River Caves, Gold Mine etc rides that are just there.
Thorpe is good with all its flat rides and even the rocky express is an extra ride, something AT good do with. -------------------- Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed, weak and weary,

It isn't. Dynamo and it's predecessors (namewise) was great. So was Energizer. But, on the whole, i'm not TOO bothered about flats - yes we shoul dhave 3 or 4 good ones, at the moment we have 1 good one. They just soak up queue's, which is needed at Alton.

Bling is a good ride but would you rather have one like bling or like samuri at TP. Hmm... for other flat rides, they could install a ride like this. Clicky It is an amazing ride and an amazing feeling you get.

I was not really a fan of flat rides until TP this year when i have been on Rush, slammer etc. I would like to see a flat ride which is not at any other Tussard group. Slammer and Rush at times are very very slow at dispatch and loading becomes so slow. Slammer is shocking, you seem to wait for around 10 mins to ride.
I think AT need to bin the waste of time submission and enterprise, and get two new or one new flat ride to bring the crowds back into X-Sector and away from FV. -------------------- ![]() Rita: The Ultimate Ride for people who cant go on Stealth |

There's not really anything wrong with Enterprise, it's a decent ride - just because it's old doesn't mean it should be scrapped. Submission is the only so called 'thrill flat' that is an embarassment to the park - i mean, it's awful. The fact that only 1/2 of it ever works says to me that the park couldn't give a damn about it either.
Camelot is closing soon, maybe they should make a move for Excalibur? -------------------- |

The other side of Submission works fine, they just don't need to use it most days as the queue line is never long enough to justify it.

i think to compremise on flat rides, they should do away with blade from FV, maby put it somewhere i dont know.... but replace it wil a ride samish in height, or maby dig a litle more.... somethin like malstrome would do better than blade... or the claw at light water vally, and thats really low down, that would work great...

I prefere roller coasters because flat rides make me feel sick and dizzy.
I think this might be a good one for AT. This is at Adventure Island (Southend) http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2004/0430advi1.jpg |

Although it looks a good ride, I think it looks a bit tacky and cheap for Alton. My money (and I hope I am right) is on a Maelstrom type ride going where Black Hole was.

I think that would fit perfectly. Tree hight rule, sadly i think would knock that idea out the window.

I am not sure, I think the height of the Black Hole tent is greater than Maelstrom.
Failing that, how about near where Bone Shaker came from, in that area behind the Corkscrew queue line, those trees are pretty tall. -------------------- |

A Maelstrom type ride would be a good addition as this eats up ques at drayton manor and IMO the best ride there so why not bring a good ride into the best theme park?
