I have seen this on the this website.
The Runaway Mine Train may get a makeover before it reopens in 2007. It's been rumoured that the ride, which has been closed for the past few months following a crash which injured several people, will be upgraded during the coming closed season. Possible changes might involve speakers on the train itself, as seen on Rock N' Rollercoaster at Disney Studios in Paris. At this stage these are just rumours, so it may not happen - but if they go ahead it will be interesting to see how well the modified theme fits in with the existing one. So what do you think of it. |

In my opinion, The Runaway Mine Train's themeing is great as it is, no need to change or update.

Speakers on the train with some appropriate sound effects to the theme would actually be great. So long as it wasn't a confused addition, then i am all for it.

I think the speakers will ruin it, i love the theming of the runnaway mine train and think that all it needs is a good lick of paint. As long as they dont put a sponser all over it. (Flume, Bubble Bathworks, tidal wave etc)

I think that if they can change the name and theme to make it fit into the are better, that is grate. What they can’t do is make it out of place or put sponsors on it.
I think the speakers are an excellent idea. It will give the ride something different and will make it more exiting as long as they have appropriate music and/or sound effects -------------------- ![]() I have dyslexia and really can’t spell. Feel free to correct me! |

In my opinion, The Runaway Mine Train's themeing is great as it is, no need to change or update. I completley agree. The theme of the ride fits in with the whole african setting on Katanga Canyon, and i dont really think it needs any additional themeing. I mean, being realistic, it cant have that long left in the park anyway. -------------------- ![]() |

I'm my honest opinion I'd like to see a lcik of paint and a bit of cleaning up. I'd like to see a few new anamatronics, perhaps people (anamatronics) warning you about entering the tunnel? Or maybe some smoke for the tunnel...My gosh Alton Towers' tunnels are awful at times.
Anyway just a lick of paint and some "elbow grease" will do me and the runaway train fine. -------------------- |

When i was there yesterday there was scaffolding on the first part of the track after the station, maybe thats the start of it all.

That's been there a few weeks now... it's not to do with any retheme, I'm sure of that. Presumably it's standard maintenance.

This was posted on TTF:
QUOTE (NickAndrews @ Nov 5 2006, 10:29 PM) We were approached yesterday by a member of staff doing some customer surveys regarding Adrenaline Week when this question was asked by him; "What would your thoughts be to a karaoke themed coaster, on a tame ride such as the Mine Train? There would be speakers on the train and screens using SingStar software. How do you feel towards this?" I'd heard this rumoured but it seems like it's really up for consideration if there are questionnaires about it. My thoughts are: what a ridiculous idea. As if coherent theming hadn't already taken enough of a downturn (Rita in Ug Land, Air in Forbidden Valley, Flume in Merrie England), it now looks like one of the few remaining examples of great attention to detail is going to be slaughtered. What saddens me is that Tussauds' need to maximise profit is always being chosen over creating the best experience. I can think of several ways you could enhance the RMT's theme to become a more immersing, more impressive ride experience. None of which involve tacky singing competitions being held on a mine train going through an African village. It just sounds like a focus group was asked: "what appeals to families and children around the age of 7 to 12?". This may seem like a premature rant considering it's not even confirmed to happen yet, but the very idea that it's being considered is beggar's belief. I give it a maximum of 10 years before some bright spark suggests "improving" Nemesis somehow, possibly involving a tie-in with whatever they perceive to be the "in thing" for teenagers at the time. |

I give it a maximum of 10 years before some bright spark suggests "improving" Nemesis somehow, possib Dan? What happened?! Was he so angry he ceased to be before he could finish? But yeah, what a stupid idea! It does seem such a pointless way of ruining a great ride! -------------------- Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pron surfed, weak and weary,
Over many a strange and spurios pronsite of 'hot XXX galore', While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, And my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour. "Tis not possible!", I muttered, "give me back my free hardcore!" Quoth the Server, 404 |

If that happens, I doubt even the most serious Alton defender will be able to, well... defend. Tacky, corporate garbage.

Agreed entirely with Dan's views, if such a thing went ahead I would be extremeley dissapointed with the park and Tussauds. It's a horrible idea, but the scary thing is that if the research comes out with the correct views then it shows demand then it has even more of a chance of going ahead, heres hoping not.
