Ok, so Iím going to Alton Towers some time this week, and was wondering about the X53 bus that goes directly from Derby station to Alton Towers.

Does anybody know how much this bus will cost? Is it just like a regular bus where you buy the tickets when you get on the bus, or do you buy them in advance?

And whereabouts it is that you actually catch it from, it just says Derby station, but I've never been there before, so I donít really know where Iím going.

Sorry about the amount of questions, but any help would be apreciated smile.gif

It's not actually from the station itself, it's from Full Street which is about a 10-20min walk from Derby train station. The bus departs at 940am, and there's a bus back at 5.30pm from the Alton Towers Plaza (where the bus will drop you off in the morning). If you want to stay on park a little later, you could get either an AT or First bus back to Uttoxeter, there's an hourly train service back from there to Derby. If you do plan on doing this, you'd need to get single tickets on each service.

There's more info on the AT official site. Although I can't find any prices for it this season, expect it to be about £4/5 return. It's free if you buy your park tickets from the driver too.

Thanks for the reply.

But according to this link www.derbysbus.info/times/timetables/X52A_090328.pdf shows that the bus leaves from Derby station at 9:40.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it leaves from the stop opposite the railway station near
the waterfall bar where the city centre bound 40 44 45 and Derby Skylink buses stop.
Perhaps give Derbys Tourist Information Centre a ring on 01332 255802 or try
emailing them at tourism@derby.gov.uk they maybe able to advise you.
Hope this helps smile.gif

OK, thanks a lot for the help guys smile.gif

I contacted the Tourist Information Centre and they said that the bus leaves from Derby station forecourt at stop S1, so it is the stop right outside the station.
